Progress: Climate Change - Institution Building for CDM in Indonesia
Launching of Indonesia’s DNA12-Dec-2005
On 27th October 2005, the Minister of Environment, Mr. Rachmat Witoelar, officially inaugurated the designated national authority (DNA) of Indonesia or commonly known as the National Commission for Clean Development Mechanism (NCCDM). The main task of NCCDM is to grant national approval to CDM projects in Indonesia. Although NCCDM was legally establish on the 21st July 2005 with the enactment of the Minister of Environment’s Decree No. 206, its launching announced publicly that it is ready to operate. In fact, NCCDM’s Secretariat has already been submitted applications from four CDM project proponents prior to its launching.

Indonesia DNA has a legal basis

The designated national authority (DNA) of Indonesia has finally had its legal basis as the enactment of Minister of Environment’s Decree No 206 on the 21st July 2005 marked the official birth of Indonesian DNA or the National Commission for CDM (NCCDM). The main task of NCCDM is to evaluate CDM project proposals with assistance from a Technical Team. NCCDM will grant national approval only to CDM project proposals which they meet all sustainable development criteria and indicators.
