1.Studi DNPI Tidak Ubah Regusila Gambut

Jakarta, Kompas - Dewan Nasional Perubahan Iklim selama 18 bulan mengembangkan studi pengurangan emisi gas rumah kaca. Hasil studi yang melibatkan 150 peserta dari sejumlah instansi pemerintah dan swasta serta lembaga swadaya masyarakat itu tidak bertujuan mengubah regulasi gambut yang ada meski gambut dituding sebagai salah satu penyumbang emisi terbesar.
”Gambut idealnya tidak diapa- apakan, tidak boleh diolah. Namun, kita harus realistis. Masyarakat harus tetap diberi kesempatan yang mengarah pada penanganan gambut yang semestinya,” kata Ketua Harian Dewan Nasional Perubahan Iklim (DNPI) Rachmat Witoelar, Senin (6/9), dalam konferensi pers di Jakarta.

Indonesia could cut its projected greenhouse gas emissions by 70 percent by 2030 at a relatively low cost, but would still need help from developed countries, a government report said on Monday.Indonesia's greenhouse gas emissions are forecast to increase by about 60 percent to 3.3 billion tonnes in 2030, the report said.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com- Untuk memenuhi target negara mengurangi 26 persen emisi gas rumah kaca pada 2020, Dewan Nasional Perubahan Iklim (DNPI) menemukan lima cara utama pengurangan emisi. Yakni pencegahan pengrusakan hutan atau deforestrasi, pencegahan kebakaran lahan gambut, pencegahan oksidasi lahan gambut, penerapan manajemen kehutanan berkelanjutan, dan penghutanan kembali.

A new, highly detailed map of part of Peru's Amazon shows how much climate-warming carbon is stored there, and where cutting down vegetation has sent this greenhouse gas into the atmosphere, scientists said on Monday.The three-dimensional map could help clear the way for an international agreement to curb deforestation and forest degradation, which account for up to one-fifth of all greenhouse gases released by human activities, according to United Nations estimates.

The United States reiterated on Friday that it was committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 even though the Senate has failed to pass legislation."I am in no sense writing off legislation over time. European carbon emissions futures hovered around 15.30 euros ($19.34) a tonne on Wednesday, recovering from early losses, but trading sideways as they sought direction.EU Allowances for December delivery inched up by 4 cent or 0.26 percent to 15.31 euros a tonne at 1343 GMT, with volume at 2,222 lots traded.
However, the benchmark contract had no clear direction, trading just a few cents either side of 15.30 euros on Monday.

10.EPA To Issue More Rules In Climate Fight

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will roll out more regulations on greenhouse gases and other pollution to help fight climate change, but they will not be as strong as action by Congress, a senior administration official said.
The agency "has a huge role to play in continuing the work to move from where we are now to lower carbon emissions", said the official, who did not want to be identified as the EPA policies are still being formed.
